STEP 1: WHAT DO YOU USE YOUR KITCHEN FOR?

I know, I know that sounds obvious but some people use their oven every day and cook big Sundays roasts every weekend, some people eat out more and use the kitchen as a social spot for gatherings…ok, parties.

Consider the following…

  • What appliances, gadgets and cupboards do you need in your kitchen and which ones dont you ever use?
  • Maybe if you do a lot of cooking that consists of different dishes a double oven would help…
  • If you and friends spend a lot of time together in the kitchen, how about an island to hang around? Or a bar area with wine cooler, rack and shelving for spirits.
  • Add shelving for things like mason jars and a spice cupboard if you have a spicy collection
  • Would you like glass fronts on some cupboard to show off your teapot collection?

STEP 2: SPACE PLANNING

Once you have a list of everything you must have, look at the space as if it had nothing in it and start planning the space.

We can do this part for you in our design software but its always good to have a rough idea of where you’d like things to go.

The sink in the window, an area of shelving, a larder cupboard in an unused corner…that kind of thing.

Fill in gaps with cupboards and drawers with worktops on top and before you know it, you have a kitchen plan!

STEP 3: COLOUR AND STYLE

Don’t pick a white or grey kitchen just because that’s what most people have (However if thats what you love, go for it, no judging here)

If you have always dreamt about a yellow, pink or green kitchen, let’s make it work! (Id LOVE to help you design a yellow masterpiece)

Or you don’t have to have the whole thing a bright, bold colour, how about just the base units or the island?

Another way to add a feature is to pick a worktop that has a sparkle or colour if you want to keep your units natural.

Choose handles and knobs that are functional as well as stylish, make them stand out, or blend in.
